This was my first blog post for themedwire.co.uk.

I’m writing this blog from my very clean, very tidy, new room in Liberty Quays. New duvet, new pillow, new sheets….. I know what you’re thinking; I don’t think it will stay like that very long either!

So I arrived at Liberty Quays this afternoon armed with way too much luggage, a door stop and a tummy full of butterflies about what lay ahead. I’m the first to admit that I don’t travel lightly, so it’s hardly a surprise it took four fresher helpers – who by the way, live up to their name and are very friendly – plus my parents, at least three trips from the car to the flat before all my stuff had been dumped in my room.

When I first got into my flat it was eerily silent and the only evidence there were other Freshers already here were a couple of empty Dominos boxes and some beer in the fridge.

Now we’re all acquainted I guess we’ll decide what we’re going to get up to tonight. I’ve maxed out my organisational skills by pinning every single timetable and poster I’ve been given up, just so I don’t miss a thing, or at least I know what I’m missing. Whatever we get up to (probably Coopers) I will definitely sleep well tonight. It’s surprising how tiring this fresher’s lark is…. And I haven’t even started yet!

I already have two alarms set ready for tomorrow morning and I know the worrier in me will set another before the night is out. There’s no way I want to miss the first of my induction sessions, never mind the fact it’s been a little while since I’ve had to be up before 9am.

I’ve been so preoccupied with the whole moving to Uni thing that I haven’t really had a chance to worry about the course content yet. However, I am excited and I want to enjoy Freshers week as much as possible whilst preparing to work hard. As my mum would say, it’s all about balance!

Here’s to the next week…
