Having learned I would be out and about covering my first election for BBC Essex for the County Council in May, suddenly there was also the small matter of a General Election looming.

For the local election coverage, I reported overnight from Colchester on the divisions in this area. It was a case of juggling radio reports, gathering pictures and videos for social media and trying to grab a word with the winners and losers on the night.

Meanwhile there was plenty to do in the run up to the June General Election. As a reporter, I spent a lot of time speaking to the public and getting their thoughts.

We also held debates between candidates…

The day after the General Election, I went and spoke to University students about their thoughts on the result and the rise in young people voting.
